Comprehensive Psychoeducational and Neuropsychological Evaluations in Lake Oswego

Whole Child Collective is proud to call Lake Oswego, OR home. From our office, we provide compassionate psychological evaluations and evidence-based therapy for children, teens, and college-age young adults throughout the Lake Oswego community and the greater Portland metropolitan area.

Our practice was founded on a simple belief: every young person deserves to be understood fully, not just through a single test score or quick checklist, but through a thoughtful, individualized process that uncovers both strengths and challenges.

Whether your child is struggling with reading, having difficulty focusing in class, feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, or navigating the pressures that often come with high expectations, our team is here to help your family find answers and a clear path forward.

Families throughout Lake Oswego, OR and the surrounding communities trust our practice because we take the time to understand the whole child. Many of the children and teens we help are bright, motivated, and capable, yet something is making school, friendships, or daily life harder than it should be. Our mission is to provide the kind of personalized, expert care that helps parents understand what is happening and empowers their children or teens to reach their full potential.

Helping Lake Oswego Families Discover Their Child and Teen’s Strengths

At Whole Child Collective, we believe that every child has strengths waiting to be discovered. Sometimes challenges such as ADHD, dyslexia, anxiety, or OCD can make it difficult for a young person to recognize those strengths.

Through comprehensive psychological evaluations and targeted, evidence-based treatment, we help families understand how their child learns best and where their natural abilities lie. With that understanding, children and teens can begin to build confidence and thrive at school, at home, and in their relationships.

What sets our practice apart:

  • Expert Training: Our clinicians bring advanced training from leading children’s hospitals and specialty clinics across the country and apply that expertise with warmth and care in our Lake Oswego office.
  • Warm, collaborative approach: Parents often tell us they appreciate that our team is both highly trained and genuinely approachable, creating a supportive environment from the very first conversation.
  • Trusted by the community
  • Many of our Lake Oswego families find us through personal recommendations from other parents who have experienced our evaluation process firsthand.
  • Collaborative care: We partner with medical providers, learning specialists, educators, and school administrators to coordinate support across every area of your child or teen’s life.

ADHD, Dyslexia, and Learning Evaluations in Lake Oswego

Many families begin their search for answers by looking for ADHD testing or dyslexia testing. In reality, concerns related to attention, learning, or school performance are often more complex than a single diagnosis.

At Whole Child Collective, we provide comprehensive psychoeducational and neuropsychological evaluations designed to understand the full picture of how a child, teen or college-age young adult learns, thinks, and processes information.

Rather than testing for a single concern, our evaluations assess multiple areas, including:

  • Attention and executive functioning
    • Reading, writing, and math skills
    • Dyslexia and other learning differences such as dysgraphia or dyscalculia
    • Cognitive abilities and processing speed
    • Memory and problem solving
    • Emotional functioning and anxiety

This comprehensive approach allows our clinicians to rule possibilities in and out, provide accurate diagnoses when appropriate, and offer practical recommendations that support children both academically and emotionally.

Unlike brief screenings or single-focus testing sometimes offered by tutoring centers, our evaluations are conducted by licensed psychologists and examine the full range of cognitive, academic, and emotional factors that influence learning.

Psychoeducational and Neuropsychological Evaluations to Understand the Whole Child

One of the most common reasons families come to us is that their child or teen is struggling and they are not sure why. A teacher may raise concerns about attention or reading. A teen may be spending hours on homework that should take much less time. Anxiety may make mornings before school feel overwhelming.

When the root cause is unclear, a comprehensive evaluation can provide the clarity families need to move forward with confidence.

We offer both psychoeducational evaluations and neuropsychological evaluations, tailored to each child’s unique situation. Our team specializes in evaluating for:

  • ADHD
  • Dyslexia, dyscalculia, and dysgraphia
  • Anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
  • Executive functioning challenges
  • Neurological or medical conditions that affect learning and behavior

Our practice also conducts pediatric neuropsychological evaluations for children and teens with medical or neurological conditions that may affect development, including:

  • Concussions or traumatic brain injuries
    • Epilepsy and seizure disorders
    • Cerebral palsy
    • Complex medical histories affecting cognition and learning

These evaluations help families understand how their child, teen or college-age young adult’s brain is functioning and how those patterns influence learning, attention, memory, and emotional regulation.

Our Evaluation Process

Our evaluation process is thorough and personalized:

Parent intake meeting (1 hour)

We have an appointment with parents to understand your concerns, your child’s history, and what you hope to learn.

Two testing sessions

Children, teens, and college-age young adults complete dedicated testing sessions designed to assess cognitive abilities, academic skills, attention, memory, and emotional functioning.

School coordination

We gather teacher observations and rating scales to build a complete picture of how your child or teen functions across different environments.

Detailed feedback session

Every evaluation concludes with a feedback meeting where we walk through the results, answer your questions, and provide clear recommendations for next steps.

The goal is never simply to give a label. We want families to understand their child’s full learning profile and leave with practical guidance for therapy, tutoring strategies, school accommodations, or specialized learning plans. We want teens and college-age young adults to understand how to take actionable steps to uncover their strengths and thrive.

Whole Child Collective specializes in comprehensive psychoeducational and pediatric neuropsychological evaluations that help families understand ADHD, learning differences, anxiety, and neurological conditions affecting children and teens. Our goal is to provide clarity, guidance, and practical next steps so young people can thrive both academically and emotionally.

While comprehensive psychological evaluations are at the core of our practice, many families also choose to continue working with our team through therapy after gaining a deeper understanding of their child’s learning profile, attention patterns, or emotional needs. When appropriate, therapy can help children, teens, and college-age young adults build the practical skills needed to manage anxiety, strengthen executive functioning, and develop greater confidence in daily life.

Evidence-Based Therapy Tailored for Children and Teens

In addition to evaluations, our Lake Oswego practice provides evidence-based therapy for children, teens, and college-age young adults navigating challenges such as anxiety, OCD, ADHD, and mild depression.

Our clinicians use well-established approaches including:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
    • Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder
    • Parent Management Training for ADHD and executive functioning challenges

These approaches are among the most well-researched treatments available for children and adolescents, and our clinicians are trained to deliver them in ways that feel collaborative, supportive, and practical.

Many of the young people we work with appear high-functioning on the surface. They may excel in sports, dance, theater, or academics while privately struggling with perfectionism, social pressure, difficulty managing their workload, or persistent worry.

Our therapists provide a trusted space where children, teens, and young adults can explore what is weighing on them, develop practical coping skills, and build confidence in handling life’s challenges.

Therapy at Whole Child Collective is active and skills-based. Between sessions, children and teens practice what they are learning so that progress carries over into the classroom, the home, and their relationships. Parents remain involved throughout the process so goals stay realistic, strategies are reinforced at home, and the entire family feels supported.

Parent Coaching That Supports Lasting Progress

Children and teens make the greatest progress when parents are active partners in the process. Parent coaching is an important part of the work we do with families.

For parents navigating ADHD, executive functioning challenges, daily routines, medical adherence, needle phobia, or other common concerns, these sessions provide practical strategies that can be implemented at home right away.

Parent coaching often takes place on alternating weeks between therapy sessions, creating a steady rhythm that helps reinforce new skills and accelerate progress for the entire family.

Online and In-Person Sessions for Busy Families

We understand that families in Lake Oswego and the greater Portland metro area lead full, busy lives. To make care as accessible as possible, we offer both in-person and virtual appointments.

Psychological evaluations are conducted in person, while virtual sessions can provide flexibility for ongoing therapy or intake sessions. Regardless of the format, families receive the same level of individualized attention and expert care. Our practice welcomes families from across the greater Portland metro area and beyond, including Bend, Oregon and Vancouver and Camas, Washington.

ADHD testing

ADHD testing at Whole Child Collective goes beyond a checklist to build a complete picture of how your child learns, focuses, and thrives. Our group practice combines parent input, teacher feedback, and standardized assessments to deliver personalized, actionable results that guide therapy, school accommodations, and family support.

Dyslexia testing

Dyslexia testing at Whole Child Collective helps families understand exactly how their child processes written language — and what to do next. Our group practice uses well-validated assessments to identify reading, phonological, and language processing patterns, then translates findings into clear recommendations for tutoring, classroom accommodations, and at-home support.

Neuropsychological evaluations

Neuropsychological evaluations at Whole Child Collective provide a comprehensive look at how brain-based factors — including memory, attention, processing speed, and executive functioning — are affecting your child’s learning and daily life. Our group practice specializes in evaluations for children with complex medical histories such as epilepsy, concussion, or cerebral palsy, delivering coordinated insights that guide families, schools, and medical providers.

Anxiety treatment

Anxiety treatment at Whole Child Collective uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help children and teens build real, lasting skills for managing worry, perfectionism, and avoidance. Our group practice tailors every treatment plan to your child’s specific experience, working collaboratively with both kids and parents so that progress extends well beyond the therapy room.

OCD treatment

OCD treatment at Whole Child Collective uses Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the gold-standard approach for helping children and teens break free from OCD’s cycle of obsessions and compulsions. Our group practice takes time to fully understand each child’s unique presentation before beginning treatment, delivering a structured, compassionate path forward built around the whole child.
