Does My Child Have
ADHD?

ADHD Symptoms Test for Kids and Teens

ADHD testing can help answer the questions so many parents ask. Does my child have ADHD? If you suspect that your child or teen is showing symptoms of hyperactivity, impulsivity, or inattention, our comprehensive evaluations are designed to provide clarity. Contact us if you would like a thorough evaluation to help your child or teen uncover how they can thrive.

ADHD testing at Whole Child Collective goes beyond simply identifying symptoms. Our group practice provides a personalized evaluation process that looks at the whole child. We help families in Portland and Lake Oswego understand not just whether ADHD is present, but how it uniquely affects your child’s learning, behavior, and daily life so you can take meaningful next steps.

While this test is not diagnostic nor is it prescriptive, if you are concerned your child or teen may display ADHD symptoms, take this test to see if your child/teen is at risk. The only accurate way to diagnose ADHD is through a mental-health professional, ideally following a thorough evaluation with a psychologist who has trained with children and adolescents.

This questionnaire is designed to determine whether your child demonstrates symptoms similar to those of Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). If you answer yes to a significant number of these questions, contact us to see how we can help. An accurate diagnosis can only be made through a thorough clinical evaluation.

Based on the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5), published by the American Psychiatric Association.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best age to test a child for ADHD?

While ADHD can be identified at various ages, our group practice primarily works with children ages 7 and up, as well as teens and college-age youth. Testing at this stage allows for more reliable and comprehensive results that can guide meaningful support at school and at home.

Common signs include difficulty staying focused, trouble following instructions, frequent fidgeting, impulsive decision-making, and challenges with organization or completing tasks. These signs can look different in every child, which is why a personalized evaluation is so important.

If your child is consistently struggling with attention, behavior, or academic performance and you are unsure whether the cause is ADHD, anxiety, a learning disorder, or something else entirely, ADHD testing can help provide the clarity your family needs to move forward.

Our evaluation process includes a parent intake session, two in-depth testing sessions, and a final feedback meeting to review results. We also gather information from your child’s school and use parent and teacher rating scales to build a complete picture.

There are three recognized presentations of ADHD: predominantly inattentive, predominantly hyperactive-impulsive, and combined type. Each presents differently, and our evaluations are designed to identify which type your child may be experiencing so that recommendations are tailored specifically to them.

A pediatrician can screen for ADHD, but a comprehensive evaluation conducted by a psychologist provides a deeper understanding. Our ADHD testing looks at the whole child, including learning, behavior, and emotional factors, to ensure nothing is missed.

ADHD symptoms can be heightened by stress, lack of sleep, unstructured environments, and academic demands. Every child responds differently to these triggers, which is why our evaluations focus on understanding your child’s unique profile and not just their symptoms.Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Early signs often include difficulty sitting still, trouble waiting their turn, forgetting daily tasks, and struggling to follow multi-step directions. In some children, particularly girls, inattentive symptoms like daydreaming or quiet disorganization can be easier to overlook.

ADHD is recognized as a condition that can qualify for accommodations under federal education laws. A thorough evaluation can help document your child’s needs and support access to resources such as specialized learning plans, tutoring, or classroom accommodations.

ADHD testing focuses specifically on attention, impulsivity, and executive functioning. A neuropsychological evaluation is broader and assesses a wider range of cognitive functions. Our group practice offers both, and we help families determine which type of evaluation best fits their child’s needs.Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit.
