Why It Matters

The Difference an Accurate Diagnosis Makes

An accurate diagnosis is the foundation of effective support. When ADHD goes unidentified, or is confused with anxiety or a learning disorder, families spend years trying solutions that do not address the root cause. Early, accurate identification changes that trajectory.

Right Treatment, Right Away

Knowing the correct diagnosis means your child receives targeted support from the start, reducing frustration for your whole family and preventing years of guesswork with the wrong interventions.

School Accommodations and Plans

A thorough evaluation provides the documentation needed to access specialized learning plans, classroom accommodations, executive functioning tools, tutoring, and support from school-based providers.

Confidence and Self-Understanding

Children who understand their own profile learn to advocate for themselves. The right diagnosis replaces shame and confusion with clarity and a real, personalized path forward to thriving.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your ADHD Testing Questions, Answered

While ADHD can be identified at various ages, our group practice primarily works with children ages 7 and up, as well as teens and college-age youth. Testing at this stage allows for more reliable and comprehensive results that can guide meaningful support at school and at home.
Common signs include difficulty staying focused, trouble following instructions, frequent fidgeting, impulsive decision-making, and challenges with organization or completing tasks. These signs can look different in every child, which is why a personalized evaluation is so important.
If your child is consistently struggling with attention, behavior, or academic performance and you are unsure whether the cause is ADHD, anxiety, a learning disorder, or something else entirely, ADHD testing can help provide the clarity your family needs to move forward.
Our evaluation process includes a parent intake session, two in-depth testing sessions, and a final feedback meeting to review results. We also gather information from your child's school and use parent and teacher rating scales to build a complete picture.
There are three recognized presentations of ADHD: predominantly inattentive, predominantly hyperactive-impulsive, and combined type. Each presents differently, and our evaluations are designed to identify which type your child may be experiencing so that recommendations are tailored specifically to them.
A pediatrician can screen for ADHD, but a comprehensive evaluation conducted by a psychologist provides a deeper understanding. Our ADHD testing looks at the whole child, including learning, behavior, and emotional factors, to ensure nothing is missed.
ADHD symptoms can be heightened by stress, lack of sleep, unstructured environments, and academic demands. Every child responds differently to these triggers, which is why our evaluations focus on understanding your child's unique profile and not just their symptoms.
Early signs often include difficulty sitting still, trouble waiting their turn, forgetting daily tasks, and struggling to follow multi-step directions. In some children, particularly girls, inattentive symptoms like daydreaming or quiet disorganization can be easier to overlook.
ADHD is recognized as a condition that can qualify for accommodations under federal education laws. A thorough evaluation can help document your child's needs and support access to resources such as specialized learning plans, tutoring, or classroom accommodations.
ADHD testing focuses specifically on attention, impulsivity, and executive functioning. A neuropsychological evaluation is broader and assesses a wider range of cognitive functions. Our group practice offers both, and we help families determine which type of evaluation best fits their child's needs.
